Children's Photographic Portraits |
General tips for your portrait session
Choose something your child is comfortable in and is used to wearing; remember new clothes can cause arguments, especially with younger children. Patterned fabrics can be distracting in photographs, a simple design in pale plain colours is best; a T-shirt, white dress, dungarees etc. Babies and toddlers look very sweet in bare feet. Remember if it is cold, happy children look great all wrapped up and make beautiful memories but uncomfortable, cold shivering children just get miserable.
I try to get the child to relax first and just make sure they are not frightened about the whole event and go back to playing with their toys or messing about in the garden i.e. generally forget I am the photographer, so I may not take a picture immediately.
I will take pictures of your child smiling and laughing of course but also their thoughtful, daydreaming moments as these can be very appealing. Have available their favourite toys or other items you would like to have in the photograph. It is always a good idea to remember your child’s sleeping and eating patterns when booking a session.
